High river level

Currently the Darling River is high and offers great fishing and yabbie (freshwater crayfish) catching opportunities.   In New South Wales, fishing licences are required but with over 30 kilometres of river frontage the licence is worth the fee.

4WD tours at Tolarno

Recently the Mildura 4WD Club of Victoria visited Tolarno and stated in their November 1999 newsletter

"We all enjoyed a very interesting afternoon with the young chap (Robert McBride) who gave us the tour as he was very easy to listen to - and we didn't realise the history right on our doorstep." - Val Price

Pipelines installed

With over 75 kilometres of pipeline laid on Tolarno and Peppora over the last 18 months we have been able to open up our 137,000 acres.   Mr. Terry McIntyre, a local Darton Contractor, is currently clearing firebreaks on Tolarno and with other work undertaken will open up an additional 34,000 acres.   Wayne McIntyre (station hand) at Tolarno is also helping with the major works project of 1999 - 2000.

RM Williams article

We would like to thank RM Williams Outback Magazine (November 1999) for writing a wonderful article on Tolarno entitled "A Colonial Experience".   The article was both concise and well written and we appreciate happy travellers always.

Shearing season approaches

Shearing is coming up in mid March 2000 and is always the busiest time of the year.   Although the shearers' quarters will be full (with the shearing team), the campsites are available with good views of the shearing team in action.
