Mining

As part of the future development of Tolarno, we are focussed on the possible mining potential of the region.  Recently, Iluka Mining undertook sampling on Tolarno looking predominantly for mineral sands.

"As with all mining and primary industries operations, it is necessary to find new resources that can be utilised for the production of the products that the Company distributes on the open market every year.   In the case of Mineral Sands mining, it is necessary to find new ore bodies that can be extracted from the ground and processed into the metals and by-products that each and every one of us utilises in our every day lives.

In the search for new ore bodies, geologists and geophysicists discovered that the Murray Basin, having been submerged by the palaeo-ocean, would make a likely target for Mineral Sands deposition.   Exploration discoveries within the district confirmed this, and a great influx of companies to the area meant a considerable focus on mineral sands exploration around the basin."

We have been and continue to be receptive to mining and mineral exploration on Tolarno and Peppora stations.
